Ruturaj Dashrat Gaikwad, born on January 31, 1997, in Pune, Maharashtra, is a promising cricketer who has swiftly risen through the ranks to become one of the most dependable young batsmen in India. Domestic Career  

Ruturaj gaikwad made his debut for Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy during the 2016-17 season. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Gaikwad emerged as one of the top performers for Maharashtra, showcasing his ability to adapt across formats.  

A defining moment in his domestic career came in the 2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he amassed over 600 runs in just five matches, including four centuries. This performance highlighted his capability to dominate bowlers with both finesse and aggression.  

 IPL Breakthrough  

Ruturaj gaikwad IPL journey began in 2019 when he was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Although he didn’t get an opportunity to play that season, he made his debut in 2020 during the UAE leg of the tournament. After a slow start, he found his rhythm in the latter half of the season, scoring three consecutive fifties and earning praise from the legendary MS Dhoni.  

The 2021 IPL season was a breakthrough year for Ruturaj Gaikwad. Opening the batting for CSK, he scored 635 runs in 16 matches, becoming the youngest player to win the IPL Orange Cap. His century against the Rajasthan Royals was one of the highlights of the season, displaying his ability to anchor an innings and accelerate when required. Gaikwad played a pivotal role in CSK’s title-winning campaign that year, cementing his reputation as one of the best young talents in Indian cricket.  

 International Career  

Ruturaj gaikwad made his international debut for India in July 2021 during a T20I series against Sri Lanka. Although opportunities at the international level have been limited, he has shown glimpses of his class. In October 2022, he also earned a place in the Indian ODI setup, where his ability to rotate the strike and accelerate during the middle overs has been a valuable asset.
